I absolutely love Frieren. Even without deeply explaining this world's powers, magic or lore it tells such an epic story by des ribing the way the characters take IN that lore. This chapter had me wide eyed during its explanation of curses and makes me truly feel this is an ominous threat even to the strongest people in thier world

I had the impression curse was just magic that humans didn't quite figure out yet - kinda like how humans learnt to fly in recent decades.

Same, I think maybe Frieren was giving Stark the layman's definition(early in the story), while Denken here is giving us the academic definition.

I think it's about curses in general, "turning gold" magic being one of them.

So Lernen and Denken are basically the same age. Lernen looks way older but Denken got significantly shorter so I guess it evens out
