I can't even imagine going through that. Being fully conscious with vibrant thoughts and ideas but unable to express anything, not even able to open one's eyes without help. Life would feel like a prison.
How long until it becomes too hard to talk to people? How long until it becomes too hard for people to look at you? How long until you suffocate on land?
Just seeing this kind of thing happen to a fictional character makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry.
