Oh sweet been waiting for someone to pick this up because Spider-Man is the most popular hero with Batman a close 2nd (unless something has changed these past few years). While it is an alternate universe, I still can't help see what this version of Spider-Man will be like since his powers came from something supernatural than from a freak accident in a lab. It also seems like Daredevil might be someone who will mentor him but who knows. I do hope for villains we'll see a Green Goblin variant as his main foe along with some of Spider-Man's classic rogue gallery. Thanks for the translations.

Her name is written using kanji, so it definitely should be “Mei” rather than “May”. (And his name is written using hiragana, but it's “Ben” either way.) If we get a Japanese-given “May”, then I'll revize my assessment, but until then I say the scanlator is wrong.

Spidey is more popular now, Batman isn't that popular outside the West.

It makes sense to focus on promoting the most popular character in the respective market, although I'd like to see other heroes of the Marvel-verse get promoted the same way to see if they can land with the target market as well so that it isn't just Spider-person (or similar) dominated.

For example, I think Dr Strange with his cosmic magic powers might be a good fit with manga's supernatural/onmyouji genre (ex. investigating Japanese ghostly horrors like Dark Gathering). Plus he has a cute intelligent flying cloak that should be endearing to the readers.
