The fact that no one raises any objection to the "the peasants are best treated as idiot tools to be used" thing makes me a little concerned.

Only a little so far, but nonetheless.

@Pokari the fact that you are concerned about the reality of feudalist China is concerning. Ancient feudalist nations exploited their citizens and are still doing the same as communist and socialist nations.

I mean, all I was saying was that I didn't like the direction the series was going, but, having said that... This series is hardly "the reality of feudalist China." XD Neither in their morals nor in the facts of the setting.

Additionally your statements are confused. Joking that it's "concerning" that I'm concerned about the bad morals of feudalistic societies, while saying that they're still like that in their modern authoritarian forms, in the same breath? I should rightfully be concerned about any long-standing moral problems that ostensibly continue to this day, no...? These two whataboutisms you've picked do not mix well, my friend. >_>

@Pokari

Sure, this is a fantasy and far from a documentary on feudalist China, however, there are some historical facts sprinkled in, in the form of the words of the son of a lord who explains how lords rule the common folk.

The whole point of what I said was to mock you for being concerned about something that has happened and nothing can be done about it no matter how much you object to it (The feudal period) and to reinforce it I added that even now the same is still happening and nothing can be done about it no matter how much you may be concerned or object to it (Modern communist and socialist states).
You'd rather fantastical works not even mention it, as you said you don't like the direction the series is going. So, no, it's not two disconnected whataboutisms but one connected statement on your view.

So, if I have this straight, your argument is that if a piece of fiction contains an objectionable view or action that cannot be totally erased from reality (be it classicism as here, or racism, or rape, or whatever), I shouldn't object to it?

I'm sorry, friend, but that's patently complete bullcrap.
