This just goes to show Samurai stories or just the Edo period in general are so awesome because it truly is like a liminal modality of war, culture, and economy as technology rapidly advances and morals distort and transform in tandem. The gruesome yet poetic nature of a samurai battle is also beautiful. Musashi vs Kojiro comes to mind.
