I am still leaning on this being just a misunderstanding, but in case it isn't, we're going to find out soon.

if you think about it, this might be why the first child has no thought/ empty mind.
maybe he deliberately became like that in order to protect himself

How the hell can she not be sure if her husband completely changed after their first kid or the second? Did she share her bed regularly with what she thought to be an extraterrestrial being? And conceive from it?

Just see how rarely the secret service (where Yuri works) and Wise clash.
Bonus point: the Shopkeeper. Given that he only triggers Yor on a few occasions now that she has "married" Loid, it is also worth understanding how much the underworld knows or is triggered by Desmond - IF that is.
Well, it's been what, half a year in-universe? Throughout that time they've had several major operations. If anything, they're incredibly high-intensity by real spy ops standards.

His scars are getting bigger because they r messing around with his brain to give him that ability (Anya may also be apart of the experiments earlier on)
You know, this is the strangest aspect of it. Like, during the war, the Ost scientists experimented on humans and animals to produce extrasensory abilities - and they operated on the currently sitting Prime Minister to implement their experimental findings? Not on a bunch of rank-and-file cannon fodder first - say, the SSS spies, their military intelligence, etc? But at the very top? Extremely strange and suspect, and implies the Prime Minister is at the very least not who's really fully controlling the country.

:chad: called it last chapter. But having exact same power as Anya is a bit of a turnoff

dunno, but i think his power wouldn't be the exact same as anya, as that would deem the experiment success, further experiment would change drastically in result and more esper like anya would be born.

i think his power is a slightly different power than anya, a nerfed one perhaps.
i theorize it would be akin to mind reading, but not yet at that level, a lie detector perhaps?

this would explain some of his behavior, his brilliant political movement, and also make him paranoid, even towards his own family.

It's crazy how people act like the mind reader theory was just confirmed, just because the crazy lady who also thinks he is an alien, said so.
And while it is still possible, I think It's most likely a red herring, there are still way to many things that speak against it, like them experimenting on a high ranking politician, Twilight not being in jail already or now with Melinda's statement on the time frame, putting his change at the latest 1 year before Anya was born.

Maybe!

It would not be the first time a country's intelligence services were the true powers running the show.

When I was spoiled on twitter I saw it mentioned that Anya couldn't read the mind of the older brother or at least got a blank from him. Their theory was that mind readers can't read each other which may have us extra guessing to do since we don't know if Loid or Anya would be the main target if the in person meeting happens.

Nice guess random internet person that predicted this during the previous chapters who I completely forgot who it was.

Also F for Anya. She has become more and more redundant lately. Hope she can make a come back.

Oh my god... Oh my god I'm getting goosebumps... And it makes sense now why Demetrius never thinks. If his father can truly read minds, it makes sense why.

You'd think Twilight would know if this were the case. Even if there simply was some shadow cabal - unless, of course, it controls both East and West.

Makes sense why Desmond seems so blackpilled then, imagine if you could hear every greedy and vile thought of the people around you, all the scheming and backstabbing you certainly wouldn't have a very high opinion of humanity. The author is doing a really good job of dealing with the theme of how well can you really know someone else, the final boss will be dealing with Desmond seeing the good in people and having faith in humanity and his son will be the focal point, and then the Forgers will have to deal with how they've all been lying to each other and using each other and can they love each other anyway.

So those stitches around his head has more weight on it for the story. If he acquired his abilities around the time between his two sons birth, might be possible he could have been the first to experience the brain altering procedure that is similar to Anya. Why is it similar to Anya? Well, based on how young she is when she acquired her abilities, Anya's procedure is aimed towards to early child development where the brain is much more adaptable to change and such so there's a higher chance she will grow more powerful once gets older. His on the other hand seems to see if it was possible to do.

For Denovan's case, if he really did became a telepath, it's more likely a weaker version to Anya as the adult human brain, thou more powerful than a child's brain, will still lose to adaptability and will have a hard time when changes occur to it. It's more likely he's getting some white noise with his abilities compared to Anya's crystal clear telepathic abilities.

Everyone seems to think that Donovan being a mind reader is confirmed with this chapter. But there was no confirmation. Just that the idea is there. For all we know, it could be that what could read isn't minds but intentions. Which is a lot more vague as a person's intentions may not always reflect to what they are thinking. Which would match Donovan's philosophy about how people can never understand each other.

But again, this is all just theories.

And Loid mission become extremely difficult to pull off.

But it's possible as Donovan's mind reading might not be as good as Anya's.

Finally something that brings Anya's power back to the foreground.
