This would be interesting to assume is true, but there's also a chance Desmond is paranoid and has the east secret police watching everyone.

I can't recall Loid's interactions with Desmond, but it'd be interesting if the author went the route of Anya, another psychic's presence creating interference and potentially making Desmond interested in Loid. Otherwise, Loid would likely have been monitored by Desmond
