Get it? She mutilated (and possibly killed) a girl who talked to her boyfriend in the previous chapter, and the boyfriend finds it endearing.

It's funny because...wait that's not funny, that's just dark for the sake of being dark. I'm all for gallows humor but there has to be a set up to the joke or at least a reason why we should laugh at the fact that a girl got her finger cut off.

Indeed, that got really dark, really fast, for absolutely no reason. Until this chapter, I was able to brush off their homicidal behavior as an extremely blunt attempt at humor.
I mean, who on earth draws a kitchen knife out in public so casually? Obviously just as a 4koma joke, which doesn't really exist in reality.

But apparently, now it's real. She killed someone. And she was extremely obvious about it, to boot.
And now, the suspension of disbelief died together with the girl.

well that got dark, i'm ok with their quirky obsessive relationship but you can't really have this comedic tone and also torture and mutilate innocent people at the same time.
