Well, the art has definitely improved.
As for stories, he's currently doing Vampeerz, which is quite enjoyable unless you don't like yuri.

Regarding the art tho. Yes, it has improved, but not on an enjoyable way. Sometimes you can get better at shading, line art, body composure, etc, yes. But in this case it just got more "better done" rather than upgrade on what it initially was. Say for example, you know the Mona Lisa, it's an incredibly piece of art yeah, but i still prefer this fanart of Abby from FGO. One has better structure, shadow, light, paint, correct on many ways, etc, but the fanart will anyways almost always win becuase its more appealing, colorful, on style, etc.
That's the path Higashiyama Show has deviated to.
Because of it, almost any new loli artist looks better than him, who i thought for some time would be the best one on the mather.
But, oh well.
