I like the rather mundane way world building is often done in this series. It's all got a surprising level of depth, yet doesn't rush along in any particular direction. It reminds me of Hakumei and Mikochi in that way.

I'm Canadian(from BC, I also grew up listening to Alouette)and I'm pretty sure the mention of Alouette in this chapter is related to the lyrics of the song Alouette, because Alouette is a song about plucking a Larks(alouette) feathers as such you can say that the landing light was plucked like a feather from the plane
