This all happened in the time-span of a chapter, book-wise. Where here they did the Thane confusion bit, there, they had the Corona Squad take out a Star Destroyer engine (not the Executor - in fact, the manga completely omitted the Executor blowing up on the Death Star II).

But yeah, even in the book, this battle was pretty much glossed over in favour of Ciena's further realisation of how much a b*****d the Emperor is.
