Well, a Metric ton of hard red winter wheat costs 210 USD atm. The whole food thing is not a problem since he can travel, between worlds and already sold stuff from our world there. It shouldn't be a problem to buy a ton of wheat and just sell it at a lower price over there.
He would need to make around 400g of silver to pay for the ton of wheat.
The US silver Doller has ~24g of silver so he'd need to make 17 silver for the whole ton. I think that's a reasonable price if I haven't missed something about the value of silver coins over there.

Yeah, I was wondering why he didn't just buy from Earth.

However, assuming he can't I would think he should require merchants with profits over X gold (aka, our greedy merchant) to have a license approved by the city lord. Those w/o license are not allowed to do business. Then delay the approval of said license. By cutting off the merchant the local farmers would have to sell to someone else. Have a friendly merchant standing by to buy and sell at reasonable prices.

He didn't check how much food he had before he started distributing it? Unless this is a cliffhanger for his 'clever plan'.
He established in the first chapter that he can freely move between the magic world and Earth with the only restriction being one round trip per day. Not only that, he has storage magic as well.
For any remotely reasonable person with these powers, none of his current problems should be problems at all!
He's the least exploitative isekai MC I've ever seen. If you started reading with chapter 3, you wouldn't even know this was an isekai.

Jesus the author is dumb. MC doesnt even think to consider to check how much food he has available? then just lets it run out and "oh i guess i better figure something out". How do such authors exist? It would take such little effort to fix this story and have it at least be average.
