If you think about it logically, yes, the mc trying to stand up against the big dude just seems stupid cause there’s no way he’s going to win. However, when looking at this scenario emotionally, I see the mc as someone who’s willing to sacrifice themselves for the person they love. I doubt the mc thought he was going to win the fight. For that reason, I believe when he decided to stand up against the big guy, he had basically decided to sacrifice himself to protect the fl. Of course, this kind of action was pointless because the fl took care of the big guy, but how could the mc know full well that she was going to be able to take down the big guy? I know if I was in this scenario in real life, I wouldn’t believe in some small girl taking down a big dude, even if she had a reputation of being strong. Anyways, as I was saying, the mc decides to basically sacrafice himself, and in return, the fl criticizes him for trying to sacrafice himself. She criticizes him in a logical way, saying he should’ve known he was going to lose the fight and that he should’ve just ran away. Running away was a logical response to this scenario, and it was the first thing the mc considered. However, instead of choosing the logical response, he decided to go with the emotional response of sacrificing himself. I guess what I’m trying to say is that the actions the mc took weren’t straight up stupid. They are justified in an emotional sense. I decided to type all of this because of some people thinking about this in a logical way without considering the emotional side of things. I wanted to provide my opinion to bring out another perspective
