Pretty pretty boy bleeding pretty pretty blood.
First volume was wonderful and the second one was... well, BL slop. Not completely terrible mind you, but it did lose the charm and art the first volume had.
The original artstyle, clearly inspired by older BL\Shojo and reminiscent of Sunroom Nite's Keiko Takemiya, is more or less lost on the transition to the second volume. I could forgive this if they worked in telling a good story regardless, and then the plot happens. And sadly, it immediately sucks.
The dynamics established already were fruitful for an interesting story that could grow into something romantic if the author gave it time to simmer, however, it seems that dynamic is thrown out the window for a faster and more by the numbers take on these characters and their stories.
I guess they thought flattening it into a middling BL on the second act was the only way to close off the story in one volume, or maybe they wanted to get that banger by following the formula with an interesting concept (the nominal stigmata) as set dressing. Unfortunately, all they accomplished was a "Just read the first volume" type of story.
And what a shame that is!
