So that's what happens when an isekaid' person possesses a character's body

Even though we don't see it that much in manga (The One Within The Villainess being a notable exception, albeit beginning with the consciousness returning), it happens a fair bit in webnovels, including ideas like the soul being ejected and only returning if somebody notices it's not you (And worse, it's called "God's Prank"), coming back after a few years with complete loss of that time's memory, the return of the original character, and them hating it, and... Crap, there was a manhua one, but I forget the title, where the evil FL is actually the soul of a fan author. Specifically, a darkfic author, and the FL's soul... Is still in there, horrified at what's being done in her name, although it's not clear for, well, the vast majority of the story.

Part of why I like the subgenre, honestly. They play with it a whole bunch, it's like their personal bolognese recipe or something. :giggle:

I never knew that happens in webnovels. Thanks for the info. As someone who never reads webnovels, what website would you recommend and what tag should I search for if I want to find the "original character's consciousness trying to rebel against the MC" trope?

I mean, if you can read JP (or can tolerate MTLing), Shousetsuka Ni Narou (Let's Become A Novelist, commonly abbreviated to "Syosetu" due to its domain name) is the way to go because they're all on there, also Kakuyomi and Alphapolis, and for Korean (Manhuas), it's generally Naver and Kakaopage. But Novelupdates is the LN/WN equivalent of Mangadex, and RoyalRoad is an English equivalent to Syosetu.

As to tags, I'm afraid you're generally out of luck, and you're left trawling through WN authors' works, although Novelupdates does have a forum which might help more.

Trawling through authors and their recs, to be fair, can sometimes be a very rewarding experience. I wouldn't have found the zany gay shenanigans (and a couple of heartbreaking stories) of Ringoame Tsuin without that (Ehehehehe, "The Villainess' Drill Hair Was A Charged Particle Cannon"...:wooow: ). Or "The Poison Princess Strikes Back", by Suzumiya (Both of which I found by working my way from the various ZERO SUM Villainess/Saintess/Engagement Annulment anthologies here on mangadex)

Alas, people generally don't TL the shorts, and that's a shame, there's some really good ones out there.
