the shoujo manga level of misunderstanding is annoying, but maybe it's best for Maki and Yuusuke to not be together now.
Yuusuke just got out of a very toxic relationship and Maki is just figuring out what she wants to do.
I'd rather they go their separate ways, mature, and meet again in the future with (hopefully) a healthier mindset.
