Umm, I don't think that's how the brain works lmao. We don't just randomly unlock areas we did not have access to before. Nor does the basal ganglia instantly deduce the perfect decision. Why go with a pseudoscientific explanation when you can just explain "magic hour" as the expertise required to predict what lines the opponent will want to take at each turn and thus how to thwart them?

I do mostly love the silliness of it all though, in spite of that one complaint. Kanou fucking sparkling is just hilarious.

It gets even better when you remember that this isn't Yu-Gi-Oh with it's super high tech holograms or millennial magic nonsense, these kids are just imagining the cards being played, in reality they are just sitting at the table playing good old magic.
