What a wonderful and overwhelming tale of reality and whether to bear it or escape it. It is a fun tale with a darkness looming in the background at every turn, never to be escaped.
Yunimaru and Konno are excellent characters, especially when placed beside one another. Yunimaru is very direct and open with how she feels, but Konno is a mystery-bound woman. They envy one another, to put it simply. The moments of joy they experience only underlines the reality they live; one will always struggle to survive, and the other has no desire to do so.
The story is simple and direct, which is what gives it power. A woman plans to kill herself at the end of summer, so she and a stranger might as well hang out and have fun while planning things out. Each smile, laugh, blush, and scream have a shadow in the distance covering everything. The ending is wonderful, as it is an open ending. While I struggled to discern my conclusion as I read the last two chapters a handful of times, I believe in the more positive conclusion for myself. Honestly, it's the written chapter that made me come to that conclusion.
9/10 I highly recommend this series! It is a fun and heavy series that really makes one think about the life they live and how they should move forward. I find the open ending to be a double-edged sword, since the two final chapters can change the perspective a bit too much. Just make sure to not think the written chapter, Sunshower, is a repeat or should be skipped.
