Actually, I think you might be expecting too much from this silly series focusing on a useless but actually overpowered MC and his crazy adventures. I mean, comedy, ecchi, battle scenes, maybe a new harem member - could happen easily, but actual commitment to romance? Hard doubt. Don't do this to yourself.

You're right, I should've stuck to viewing this as a strictly fanservice manga. My expectations were not low enough it seems. 'Dense protagonist' is how the novel has been tagged on novelupdates so yeah...
