"Hurr Durr! We kick out the guy WHO CAN CONTROL SAND into a DESERT. That'll teach him! Surely he'll die there and never amount to anything!"
"No wai! He became overpowered? How can he become so strong in a desert when his power is to control sand!?"

This premise is so stupid that it honestly destroys my interest in reading beyond the first chapter. I know EXACTLY how this is going to go: absolute stupidity from everyone built on everyone being amazed that the guy who can control sand is flourishing in a desert.

No doubt the fact that there's effectively zero resources or that no one can get them except for him will be irrelevant and his group will somehow become prosperous despite there being no way for that to happen.

I've seen this entire series without even looking past the first chapter.

12 year old goes from "I wonder if I'll get a good magic" to the sand version of the fucking Force... and an engineering degree? WTF?

You know what they say, buddy boy ? Never judge a book by its cover ! Even though he are exiled because his skill is supposed to be useless, it's a good opportunity to grow his talent and power. Someday soon, his shitty family will reap what she have sown.

Is it really "sand" magic though? I feel that castle would be pretty unstable if it wasn't more along the lines of earth magic. But, being banished to the dessert with that power really does seem the most appropriate to maximize its potential
