Death is not the worst possible outcome here. We had a family friend who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle accident involving a tractor-trailer attempting to run a red light. He never regained consciousness. His body lingered for more than a decade, and the medical expenses plus the resulting drama destroyed his family.

Who is that quack? It's "just" a displaced fracture to a major bone? Requiring a full length inside bolt? You can die from those, and judging from the X-ray, it will takes months to heal, years on physiotherapy, and she WILL have life lasting issues. If she's lucky they won't be serious issues, but you don't walk away from those "good as new". Pun absolutely intended...
