The biggest plot twist is that she is the same as him in recognizing people. I bet if the tried to pull some act like she does it would work.

while this is wholesome I can't really get over this man acting as a middle schooler ... blushing when the fml uses short sleeves instead of the usual long sleeved shirt and panicking over touching the girl hands ... he is also too jumpy with his emotions which is actually kinda cute but annoying for an old man... I don't want this old man to suddenly act like an experienced middle aged chad old man but I'd like for him to start showing a little romance boldness instead of coming off as a emotional jumpy gloomy tired old man talking with his young daughter female friend...
I feel there is some level of cultural difference here related to your expectations on how he should act.

So... it is his fault she started smoking.
And he started smoking for an equally stupid reason.

... They're both complete idiots.

Blushing when the fuck my life uses short sleeves???
I think he has fucked her life over more than she fucked his.
Maybe if Female Major List

Recently discovered this manga and really love it, but...

On p. 23 in this chapter: 'It wasn't because you were unconscious of it. Instead, it was... because you have feelings for that person.'

What? I don't see where that came from. How would he come to think of something like that? Is it maybe something lost in translation, or a cultural thing? Am I the only one puzzled here?
"Have feelings" doesn't equal "love" or even "like", it simply means this way or that, you're more conscious about the person than usual.
It could also be due to bad word choice for translation, but essentially it's just him telling her that she definitely had a thing or 2 for the smoking guy, which is why she's surprised (remember how she said she's always been all gloomy? Yea)

He explained how he came to think of that. (Re-read the 26th page.) He saw that she was looking unusually gentle while reminiscing about that person. Sasaki-san took her facial expression as a very strong clue about her real feelings towards the mentioned person.
