I think I'd drop the story it's really frustrating when you read a long story get attached to characters and then the end is disappointing.

So I also read the queen dies, but it's a peaceful death since she was already ill or something? The King and his concubine get their just desserts for the crimes the committed long before the Queen dies though. About the ML, there's more than one...I think.
