I really like the comedy here, but it still baffles me how these supposed "gods" are so powerless, weak and most of the time, retarded... call them spirits, world keepers or whatever, but not gods, the word has been too banalized as of late and deffinitely doesn't define these characters. Heck, god/s have supposedly created the whole friggin universe, don't these authors keep that in mind? Any one of those measly little dots in the night sky is a goddamn gigantic fireball that would vaporize part of the solar system just by being there... and it/they created them, and if we go deeper into the whole metaphysical explanations, god supposedly created everything and anything, from this world to other dimensions and whatnot, and oh, this is unrelated to religion, I don't give two shits about that, t'was just about the banalization of the word itself.

@Antairan Lots of different types of gods out there. Japanese gods are especially numerous and varying in power. They literally have gods of/for everything.

So im not sure what part of that is not in line with this. I think its more your own definition of a god that is being attacked. Have you seen some of the shit gods get up to? Some of it makes this look relatively normal. I mean do some actual reading on the topic and you will find all sorts of being worshipped as gods doing things that are downright stupid.

This isn't about what "some people" think about what a "god" is, but about the fact many of those religious definitions overlap with other things. Many of these series depict gods as mere humans that simply live for eternity, are invulnerable, but are still subject to mundane tastes and vices, being "evil" or "good", among many other strange things that are exclusively human-related (there is no good or evil, that's just something we humans have defined, and it's not a universal definition, since it changes from person to person); and even sometimes, they're not even that great, simply being slightly stronger than your average person, with maybe a superpower here or there, which, as said before, overlaps with things such as espers, spirits, etc. There's something undeniable about gods, and it's that they can't be downplayed by anything else in the world related to their being, and in all these manga, gods are toyed about in every possible way, they have limits, they get lured in by bribes, etc.
And ANYWAY, I said before this wasn't about religion, and I meant it literally. Religion is about looking for an alternative, simple, explanation for why things are as they are, often being used to control what people think, and or to make them feel at ease, among other possible reasons. God, as much as it can be defined, be it a single entity or an amalgamation of them (or both), represents many things, but to the pinnacle of each and every single one of them. These characters that represent gods, don't even come remotely close to that, hence, my rant.

@Antairan I guess we are both pretty silly then having replied to rants and replies to rants =P. I suppose the only thing a god needs is to be the god of something and perhaps that is what your issue is with. That these deities are not displaying that trait.

These gods might be weak but again, gods in the past or beings called gods have been lesser gods. Is a lesser god not a god? Think of all the children of the greek gods. They were gods of things but they were hardly as impressive as you seem to be implying a god needs to be. I mean the greek gods had vices all over the place. So i am confused as to why you have a problem with this when mythologies have them being no better.
