MC has this ominous dream, but what he sees here doesn't give him any real clues as to what the context is. And given what the last panel seems to suggest, it's easy to go into tunnel vision.

And even as that event approaches, the vision remains essentially unchanged, and it's only through a chance context hint (which will require backstory) that he deduces the victim's identity and can intervene in the nick of time.

Wait, what? Would you mind elaborating on that?
Sure. I might as well give a summary of the series, lol.

The titular character and initial female lead Fuuka (who is also the daughter of the leads in one of Seo Kouji's earliest series - and arguably the one that made him famous - Suzuka) gets hit by a truck in chapter 36 and is killed. At that time she was the vocalist of a band which included the male lead, Yuu, and was in a love triangle with Yuu's childhood friend, Koyuki, who was a famous pop star. Fuuka's death spurs Yuu and the rest of the band to seriously pursue music, and along the way they recruit a new vocalist who happens to have the same name (she appears a volume after the original Fuuka's death). This new Fuuka eventually becomes the new female lead and eventually wins the Yuu bowl in the end (even the death of her rival wasn't enough to make the childhood friend win lol).

Seo also isn't really a stranger to huge emotional plot twists; in his earlier manga, Kimi no Iru Machi

he killed off the male rival halfway through the series (turns out he had a terminal illness)

And given how controversial the plot twist in Fuuka was he's been parodying the heck out of it in his current manga, Megami no Cafe Terrace.
