I assume you skipped the part where they're the class beauties with 'tons of fans' meaning they likely have a pretty high social status in the class or entire school and if he didn't apologize he may as well ruined his own image toward the school. I mean if he's literally Hikigaya Hachiman himself then yeah sure "socially destroy me idgaf" but MC's not Hikigaya Hachiman he already has his own set of problems not just at home and mentally with his powers and he actually faces his problems and looks to solve it.

So it's actually rather commendable that he took the first step to apologize and not prolong it further to worsen the situation. So it's not just a matter of Silence War also consider the fact that the other girl he saved who happens to be her best friend is also in the equation. Overall at least I'm glad he looks to repair the damage and things didn't go out way worse which what usually happens in these types of Manga..
