It was inevitable, really. His feelings for Suzuka were never really addressed- they were just temporarily subdued by feelings thrust upon him by Honoka's forwardness, hoping to overwrite those feelings. Put them together and alone again, and this was a foregone conclusion. I knew Honoka wasn't going to get much time with him, but I get the impression it'll be less than I thought.

To be honest, Honoka was being a bit too pushy. Some situations, sure, maybe that'd work, but there's certainly others where this sort of pushy behavior results in a short-lived relationship like this. There's been legit feelings between Yamato and Suzuka since nearly the beginning, whether they acknowledged them or not, and they've been developing all this time. Honoka basically forced a 'you're cute' moment and got herself some short-lived happiness through it.

Reverse the situation during this camp trip, with a theoretical start to Yamato and Suzuka's relationship during it and Honoka ending up spending the night at his family house due to circumstances instead, and I feel like it wouldn't have even occurred to him to suggest this outing to see the fireflies with Honoka. He would have been wishing it was Suzuka with barely any internal conflict, I suspect.

Instead, we have him with conflicted thoughts and feelings, wanting to spend time with Suzuka, but knowing he's got Honoka as his girlfriend right now, having just started the relationship.

It's remind me of Kimimachi. The drama too easy to read, but sure gave me some rollercoaster feeling. And kinda irritating i guess, much better than harem romcom nowadays tho
