Cobbled together almost entirely from tropes that were already outdated here where I live when I was born. It´s cute at least, I suppose 🫠

Seems Tsuitsui still got it. If you liked Bokuben you'll like this one.

If you liked Bokuben, it's more of that, warts and all.

There's no male characters of any import beyond the mc, and every problem has to be solved by the mc in some way, even if they are the girls' problems rather than his own.
The girls are entertaining, but only exist in their relation to the mc. They'll interact with each other, but it is exclusively in his presence or talking about him.
The series is filled with "lucky pervert" moments. Syd, despite being innocent as hell to the point he is practically scared of women, still seems to touch a woman every chapter, most recently the boob or a character he supposedly has a sibling-like relationship with. Great...
The progression is stilted and the series spends more time on repeating the same core character gags than actually progressing them, and when they do, it is such minor progress it doesn't actually change anything about the story. What has changed since the start of the series? The detective is willing to wear female clothing and Lulu knows Elio is crossdressing. Yes, that's it.

As far as harems go, it's not bad, but it's pretty generic and dated. It had the opportunity to do something unique with its focus on detective work and late Victorian era England setting, but the manga's laissez-faire attitude to murders and incessant need to treat it as modern day with a different skin on top means nothing comes of it.

Speaking of different skins, it is very hard to ignore the fact all the female characters are effectively one of the designs from Bokuben with one primary trait changed and then a hat thrown on top.
