Why not just take the request, complete them, finish the extra request, get the reward of the quest plus extra. Lastly threaten the guy to report to the guild for scamming adventures unless he's willing to pay up. Additionally warn the guy if he reports it to the guild he'll get roast like those garbage.

I think that would sound way more interesting.

I feel bad that I thought worse of the merchant than he really was. I thought he was draining her mana with the extra work to make her vulnerable for the kidnapping and the slave making. Which would be dumb, seeing as it was a guild managed request, but the stupid ball is powerful with the teir one bully villains in isekai. Still scum, but not scum of the earth.
