They expect you to read their minds, they change what they want repeatedly, and deadlines are always closer than they appear.

So really just like any other job, only you're making pictures/graphics/animations instead of spreadsheets.

I'd still say art needs some passion or soul behind it. You ever read a manga were the artist was just hired to adapt someone else's work and it's just obvious they don't care about it?

Or a paint by numbers manga with generic characters and plot that doesn't stick in your mind or grab your attention. It's just kind of obvious the creator does not care.

Eh, I think that there are plenty of artists who do things for a paycheque but nevertheless have the skills and professionalism to deliver great work to their clients/employers.
