… ok, I hope I’m not the only one that see it, but their interaction page 3 and 4…
Basically, her saying that she mostly sees him from the side, and him saying he still was always seeing her from the front…
And she got super shy cause she realized that it meant that she was basically looking at him more than he looked at her. XD

I'd still say art needs some passion or soul behind it. You ever read a manga were the artist was just hired to adapt someone else's work and it's just obvious they don't care about it?

Or a paint by numbers manga with generic characters and plot that doesn't stick in your mind or grab your attention. It's just kind of obvious the creator does not care.

I'd say yes it does generally produce something better, but also no it actually isn't needed.

I used to commission a lot of art of my RPG characters, and I definitely feel the pieces where the artist was excited about my character/concept are better in small ways than the pieces that were done because the artist had a bills to pay.

But when you show the pieces to other people it's largely unnoticeable because they're all still excellent on a technical level.

Commercial art is largely like that: it needs to be technically proficient and consistent, but it doesn't really need the artist to be passionate about the subject to get the job done.

Back when I was still pursuing the life of an artist, I attended a lecture by Noah Klocek, who as of now is still an Pixar illustrator. He detailed something he called "girlfriend" art and "mom" art. The girlfriend art was stuff for work that had to met the demands requested, while the mom art was stuff he wanted to work on that he would give to his mom to put up on the fridge. He said that by keeping a balance between the two, he could produce his best work overall.

I'd have to imagine a lot of professional artists do the same thing.

love this dynamic. it's still anyones match, too soon to call it. who has the odds??

just meeting and making wisecracks at each other would have been fine probably. but only until he was leaving highschool, after that unless their families were close would have needed to keep some distance between them I reckon 🤔
Doing that if their families were close for whatever reason would have been fine.
