Rule 1.5.1: Translation groups (i.e. not Official Publishers) may not promote websites that permanently gate access to translated works behind any form of system that requires payment to view releases (e.g. paywalls, subscriptions, coin-based unlocks, etc.). Practices such as intentionally degrading freely viewable content to push paid alternatives are similarly prohibited. A group may offer paid access to their own translated works, but must ensure they are made fully and freely available after a consistent and reasonable delay.

there's the issue. Too many groups just sit on shit for way too long. They should have it be like max 1-2 weeks, but still on a consistent schedule. That way readers on MD still have the weekly release schedule

Asmodeus scans paywall like 5 chapters. It is not okay. And they often don’t release stuff for months.

Like I said before, if they kept it perm behind a wall I’d have issues with it but this ain’t a series where they’re doing that. In fact they’ve released two chapters in last two days. Do I think they should do a paywall to their work? Nah. Is it understandable? Yeah.

If you think this is bad you should look at the group doing the novel translation for Death Mage. $150 for them to translate a new chapter

I wouldn't mind so much if they were, you know, ACTUALLY CONSISTENT with uploading to MD.

Besides, as someone else pointed out, paywalling in the first place was a major contributing factor as to why MD got that mass DMCA strike. And I think we can all agree that was a Bad Thing™.

And considering that along with the simple fact that groups that paywall content are never consistent with their uploads to MD? I feel that they should disallow it entirely. Allowing groups to profit off of scanslation has done nothing but cause strife for MD.

I mean the real reason the dcma thing happened was because the site had a ton of series that had official releases and that’s a no go for these companies. I’d wager most of what got hit were the series that have official releases and had little to do with paywall stuff. I could be wrong but that’s my view on why the site actually got hit
