Why didn't they feed the bodies to the crocs instead of hiding them?

It looks like the sibling clash will save them, but i can see some of them need to die so the information come home.

I hope im wrong with that last part, they need Arata. Hes half the brain of their army.

But there should naturally occur blood from crocs preying on the other animals that come to the watering spot.
