I just created an account to say how amazing and unique Paru Itagaki's work is. She never fails to send chills down my spine with her creations. It's incredible, and I can't wait for more chapters!

After reading Beastars and the first 20ish chapters of Sanda, I am so excited to be able to keep up with her newest work in real time. Just one chapter and I'm hooked! :D

As unique as this premise is, this reeks of "Idiot Plot". All this started because Ao made the stupid decision of covering up the death of her father... to save the life of her pet? I'm sorry, but who the fuck would do that?

You underestimate people who think animals, specifically pets, can do no wrong. Someone said it already, white women and dogs a tale almost as old as the internet.

I kinda hope Taika actually did it..
Like maybe he could have been tricked into doing it but he has to be he who did it..

It would be way too cheap if it's some random dogman and the whole plot revolves around finding him and proving he's the culprit..
Like I think it would be more fun if Ao tries to frame some innocent guy to keep protecting Taika..

Further than that and on a more character driven note. She mentions pretty clearly that her father and her Taika are the only individuals she loves. She has just lost one, POTENTIALLY at the hands of the other. She doesn't want to lose the only other person she loves, even if he's done wrong. It's the same as mothers covering up for their child murdering their (non abusive) father; You love this person so much that you don't want them to go, even at the risk of putting your own life and morality on the line. Love and Hate are two sides of the same coin, being the most passionate emotions, which can lead to people doing stupid things.

It'll be up to Paru to sell Ao's motivations as something we, the audience, should care for. The pacing is honestly already a bit wonky, but I'm ready ta give it a chance!
