@ThisMe Because first. Impressions. Matter. Now, I do understand where you're coming from, and typically try to rate at least through a first book, but if this is brand new, with nothing to go on for a week, 2 weeks, or even a month, then yes, this initial rating being so low is pretty indicative of how people generally feel about this. I get shit for giving novels a low score after reading through the first book, not impressed with it as it is, and telling it how it is as I see it from the impression as a first time reader, even though there are more books in the series. I'm not gonna waste my goddamn time on a shitty piece of work. I'm not a "professional" reviewer. I do this for fun, and if my general insight can save people time and headache, then I'm doing pretty decent as a reader. (As a side note, it is hilarious watching people get fucking butthurt as I tear into their "beloved" series', breaking down why I hate it, and then people say that "I need to get further into the story before it gets good." That's an incredibly poor excuse, especially for someone who just reads for fun, and tends to write rather lengthy reviews on things.)
Though I MUCH prefer written reviews to reviews with scores. You get far more information out of a written review (that's actually half-way thought out) and you can get the feel of something that way.
