At the very least the spying came to light. And not too early. Too much information has been leaked, but at least the new weapons are save. Or did Valentina create plans for a rifle prototyp, which Alonso took? Let's hope he didn't and that the nobles of the other territory are stupidly arrogant. I believe in Hazel's case, while he didn't actively betrayed the lord, he found out about his brother and didn't say anything. Well, that is betraying. He decided against leaving with his brother at least. Now the question is, did he really want to chop up MC, or not? Wasn't Hazel into the Lord's daughter who fell for MC? That would be a motive, but a scummy one, which would explain, why he wanted to kill MC, but wasn't all that enthusiastic about it.

Havel (the black haired guy, the little brother) wants to have his sister (Marie) released from slavery (since she was born to a slave mother).

The older brother and their father probably have a deal with Havel behind the scenes where if he helps them she stays alive or something of the sort.

I assume that he's doing this so that she'll finally be free and separated from their family (since if the family crosses over to the other country and Marie isn't with them, she might not be considered a slave anymore).

This is speculation of course.

I think I might bounce out. It started really good with this guy helping a village out by making them thrive, but has gone the way of "Gate" where there is none stop politics. It's too bad. I really liked it up until our MC leaves the village. Afterwards, it just becomes a slog.
