A full chuunibyou series like this doesn't really work, because there's no actual progression or stakes that can be felt.

Eminence in the shadow gets around that by having an actual plot and story with only the mc being chuunibyou, but this series didn't do that. It ended up feeling like nothing actual happened in 16 chapters apart from tanaka being chuunibyou in front of different people.

Is it me or does axe-kun love isekais with people that are named Tanaka. It’s technically occurred twice, it’s not a large number, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

It was insane but I think it could have been insane for about 2x as long at least.

I think this adaptation could have gone further if MC was either an idiot/oblivious or a chuuni but not both. The combination makes it difficult to keep interest in the MC and the lack of an overarching plot means there is very little to tie everything together besides MC accidentally falling into plots.

Anyone actually read the source material? Is the MC this obnoxious throughout that at well or does he eventually understand his power levels?

Sad to see it end but there really was zero character development for the MC. Overpowered MCs can be awesome but not when they're bumbling idiots who just always run away. His out-of-the-world stats didn't translate to nearly enough power either. The author doesn't seem to understand orders of magnitude.

It was 16 chapters of running in circles so no wonder that it got axed so quickly tbh

It was an enjoyable series, though it's a shame it didn't really go anywhere, acting more as a advertising manga for the wn/ln rather than its own thing.
My big complaint is for the MC Tanaka; what's the point of him being an older male if you're going to make him so absolutely immature and ignorant? Being a chuuni fine enough, but his childishness and inexperience at seemingly all aspects of life - like he doesn't know how to interact with people despite having been a working man - it's rather annoying to read.

Still, it was also fun to read, and it's a shame it didn't get the chance to reach any sort of potential, with none of the plot lines it was building towards going anywhere yet, essentially being strangled in the cradle.

It had few chances to be long lasting, just a pity that is a nothing burger and Tanaka shot down his own chances with 2 princesses on his own.
I've read the last chapters of the novel
Tanaka simply fights with the real god of destuction, wins and makes a portal for the heroes to their original world, they return, he wakes up in a farm field and thinks every experience was a dream.
This adaptation reaches around chapter 35-40 I think, novel is 114 chapters, but I doubt Tanaka was able to get with anyone, last novel picture makes clear that skeleton and spirit are the only companins he had to the end.

Hahaha... Wasn't surprised it's open-ended. I can accept chuuni ossan. But hentai chuuni ossan? No thanks. It was ok at first with him accidentally saving the wirld with his magic lessons. But the more it progress, the more hentai he becomes.
Suke-san and kaku-san were my favs. They so chill.

Why would they do that? He's living his dream life (even if he wasn't getting laid), why would they send him back to his stagnant life of drudgery... it's not a bleak ending, but it's not a good ending either (for the MC). :questionblob:
And what of his lil' baby skeleton? He's left abandoned and having to fend for himself!

is a old novel, back then 9 on 10 isekaieed characters just wanted to return back, I ony read the ending so is not impossible they decided to return because their presence was bad to the the isekai
but as MC returns without nothing but a keychain fashioned on his buddies image it feels really bad, other iskeai returners return with strenght or a love interest, is implied he took everything as a dream, hence have gained nothing
