Its not the sex he's afraid of. Undesirable guys are used to women reviling them as disgusting or decrying them as perverts when they express any attraction or desire for them. After a while it becomes difficult to believe that any woman would find you desirable.

Let's not forget that Tanaka up until now has been set on Sophia as his true partner. Somehow though, I'm not seeing this work out, since the girl is terrified of him and his power. I'm still curious about what exactly the noble wizard had seen in her that piqued his interest; he did mention some kind of magic that she'd done, though all we'd seen her do is the clumsy maid effect 9000 on him.
