Bruh the victims got dugged out along with a whole lot of soil and debris assuming they're still alive by then they could very well die from being buried after Hiruko spat them out.

Idk why they assume the kaiju can't see when it's capable of tracking a lot of people based on other things, it will startled it for sure but you know

it's an abyss dweller, many abyss dwellers don't rely on sight, but instead rely on other senses, such as scent, sound, or even bio-electricity. the Orochi is a good example, it hunted mostly via sound, and possibly scent
they have very little data about kaiju Ecology, and less about a majority of the Taxonomy. they're having to learn all this info on the spot under extreme conditions. for all we know, this creature could be using a variety of echolocation to locate prey

If it echolocates in a similar way to a dolphin or whale then that ability would be nearly useless out of the water. Even more useless now that the lower jaw is damaged.

Doesn't echolocation work in air too? Bats, for example.

again, we have no idea how it's biology works, and Echolocation is the use of the characteristics of sound waves to navigate, find and/or hunt prey, and to help avoid/defend against possible predators. Bats are a prime example of above water echolocation. and there is a species of moth that uses echolocation to defend against predation by bats

Bat echolocation functions very differently from toothed-whale echolocation due to how sound travels through air compared to water. Bats receive back their "pings" with their ears, toothed-whales with their lower jaw(they don't have external ears).

Going off of the [Hiruko]'s general physiology I'm betting it has more in common with an orca than a bat.
