Let's try to look at the good side of it. meteor fragments, eruptions, tsunami looking wave, maybe their world really is in a terrible situation and I do think it's better to stick to a smaller group in a situation like that. Looking ahead in chapters it doesn't seem like the stalker is completely off. Now, for calling it a comedy, well, some people find other's misery funny, I guess.
