It's just nice to have a character-developing segment like this where hospital politics aren't involved at all.

@phil777 Yeah last I check, a beetle can't be a surgeon.

All politics aside, these kind of interactions are what makes Asada and this manga enjoyable, at least for me.

Idk Asada needed some kinda conflict. He's too smooth the whole way through, reread chapter 1 and the difference is fuckin shocking i tell ya. Wish we had seen how he arrived there better.

I wish Asada had answered the question instead of avoiding it. Would've shone a bit into his mentality.
I think he would've made the same decision as Kunitachi IF he had been the surgeon, however directing someone to perform something YOU could do is different.
For that reason I believe Asada would've sacrificed the leg because he couldn't trust fully trust in the ability of the surgeon performing and would decide to securely protect the life over the limb.

Which is squarely in line of what is happening right now in the plot.
Asada has created a team that he is directing to do a surgery. I believe it's his way of challenging the mentality that he had when he heard about Kunitachi's situation.
Which is why his final statement is him believing this will improve his ability to lead people. Which when you think about it, part of this arc is also about inheritance.
What do you leave behind when you die.
Asada could go on being the absolute best surgeon for the rest of his life. But no one would ever be capable to repeat the surgical procedures he performs.
So why not go into Leadership to create a Foundation that CAN be pushed down, a way of learning or teaching which will lead generations to come.

@shoker I don't think he would've saved the leg if he were there. The girl died because of a post-op infection. Asada said himself that she would've survived had she been in a place with good hygiene.

@Leyana
Well it's still hard to say if he would have known that, which was why I wished he answered the question. Your point stands though.
My thought on that is that he probably worked in areas with far worse hygiene as an NGO doing similar surgeries. This could be taken to prove either of our points however.
I'd like to think that Phillipe would've pointed out such a problem since he worked with Asada in those environments.
