So from what I can see from this chapter, I guess the end of Professor Kitou's character arc will be him not needing Ryutaro anymore, as in giving up on forcing him to work at ER and regain his love of being a surgeon himself. I mean, we all know that one of the conclusion of this manga is Akira being elected as the new professor, so Kitou will surely vote for her as soon as he longer has any reason not to. I dunno why, but I kinda have a feeling that he really, really doesn't want to vote for Gunji for some reason (just to be clear, this is just my gut feeling). And if Kunitachi drops out as I suspected, then Kitou's only choice that is in line with this manga's premise and his character arc would be Akira.

There's still the possibility of Ryutaro suffering permanent damage to his arms after all, which clearly will hinder his capability as a surgeon. Kitou only wants Ryutaro for his godlike surgeon stuffs anyway. But who knows, his character arc is still not finished yet.

I know it's still too soon since we haven't even entered the resolution of professor electoral part of this manga yet, but I'm sure that Takeo, Sofue, and Kitou and their factions will vote for Akira. Akira is already destined to win since the very beginning of this manga anyway, so yeah, it's the journey that I'm sincerely looking forward to which is my main reason of following this manga in the first place.
