lucky? no no, he wasn't born with crazy skill, he was reincarnated with cheat skill, his luck stat is only 5, and so far I've read into WN right now it's still stuck at that, but the series of events that led him to become strong have a (still vague) reason behind it, waiting for the story to unfold

first, old man can't see his stats and skills because at that time he didn't have an appraisal skill, he only knew that 'game' was a special skill because there's no way a game controller exists in that world
Second, in WN only explanation it gave was that he had awakened the skill of Game after he regained his memory, so it's either because of the change in LN version, or the mangaka tries to explain it their way, I don't know
