I mean, this is kind of the only story that could logically be told with the scenario of "women are stronger and run society".
Historically, the main reason women were protected is because they are necessary for continuing the species, but are weaker and can only have so many children in their lifetime. On the flip side, men were stronger and one guy could technically father 100s of kids if needed, so men were the protectors and it was less of a loss if a guy died because we are more easily replaceable when it comes to preventing extinction.
So, if women were actually stronger, and men needed the protecting, the strong would be far less inclined to actually protect the weak than what happened IRL, because they could just keep a few guys around to ensure no extinction while the rest of the men would be seen as toys.
