revisiting this work a few years later, this is probably my favorite piece of pandemic-era writing ive seen. pacing felt just right in the one-volume format, the romance is satisfying and believable, and everything felt very true to the era. it evoked the feelings of the pandemic without getting lost in the doomerism of it, or feeling like a political treatise. Most stories that are set in, or were contemporary to, that time just acted as vehicles to re-litigate the discourse. This story used those realities as a vehicle for a pleasant romance, something i think we all were craving during those lonely days.
