It's definitely about Halloween. Rimuru himself said here that it's believed that spirits return from the dead on that day. That's exactly what happened.

IIRC, didn't a fragment of her soul survive in rimuru? They had a ghostly reunion at one point. Or was that retconned in the LN version?

yes, her consciousness still live in rimuru, but that's a different point. She certainly didn't "miraculously survived", and her appearance in that chapter is certainly "due to Halloween".

@Med1um Her body is in Rimuru, not her consciousness. When Rimuru absorbed her she was completely brain dead. That's the whole point of the scene of her reuniting with her mother, her soul left her body and she's in the afterlife.

Oh, sorry, i didn't realize that this is spoiler for manga readers, but her consciousness is still in Rimuru, and it will be major plot point in the future. The fact that she was absorbed after the death also means almost nothing, since they succesfully ressurected a bunch of monsters days after their death. Granted, there wasn't barrier on Shizu's death, but she was also been absorbed almost instantly after, so it's not like it's required.

P.S. She also commented that her new place is quite comfortable, so you can say that she is living there almost like veldora
About scene of reuniting with mother in afterlife - i don't quite remember if that scene even exist in the original novel, but anyway, you can say that only part of her consciousness was absorbed into Rimuru.

Only the manga placed any kind of importance on her, in the LN she's just some literal who rimuru met for all of 30min before dying.
