The quality of the artwork picked up considerably in this chapter. That's usually a good sign. The happier Ishiguro-sensei is with how it's coming along, the better it is for us, his readers. ?

For them to rummaging the houses from earlier chapters, not taking the batteries now just seem awfully absurd. Not to mention they're living a post apocalyptic era, they should just take whatever useful things they could get.

Though if I have to guess, I think the reason was the batteries kinda like offering for the deceased lady. Still weird thing to do tho, the dead doesn't need it anymore.

Man, I like the gruesomeness of this stuff - it's unsettling, but that's what I appreciate. It also seem like at least THIS time the owner didn't plan on feeding KiruMaru to her "son". Even when they've woken up, she was never aggressive or malicious towards them, so that's why I think so.

Of course, it doesn't really matter - she did some messed up things anyway, so fck her, no matter what trauma she carried.
I really like KiruMaru dynamics. They work very well together and they're pretty competent individually. I don't feel like any of them drags the other down.

And as for leaving the batteries, I know it's counter-intuitive for us, but it seems like they needed that. It's for their mental health. They feel better doing that and believe it makes a difference, so I'm not even trying to judge them for it.
