I finally realized that Maru is Tokio's kid few days ago (I'm slow, aren't I) since he's looking for twin and the only twin mentioned in story is Tokio's kid and the cloned one and this chapter pretty much confirm it

Still, i don't understand why they think Maru is an enemy. Probably well see the reason next chapter.

This chapter just casually confirmed so many things people have theorized throughout the series. So, Tokio has been out and about. A couple of people have theorized she could have been the man eater that ate Haruki and I think her being anywhere in Japan definitely makes that idea way more plausible.

Also, that scene with Kiruko and Maru (or Yamato?) in the cave is unnerving considering how caves have been symbolic of deaths throughout the series.

Every time we switched from Maru to Tokio I was always confused as to why the two looked so alike and it’s only until like maybe a year until I caught up where this chapter drops and finally says it out loud. Man im an idiot for not noticing.

If you reread now, even just the first few chapters, you might be amazed at some revelations lol. I didn't even piece together that it was Shiro and Mimihime at the Immortalities arc until after I'd finished all the current chapters.

The girl is talking about Maru, not Tokio. And it's likely her referring to how Maru can destroy Hiruko cores (regardless of whether they have been turned into Man-Eaters or not).

It seems that Maru’s ability only work on the genes of the children from the academy, that’s why it works on Totori back then too.

And Nanaki specifically becoming the Spider-like Man-Eater is even hinted by the cover of chapter 29, which features a single page spread of the spider Man-Eater, the window frames below it are apparently broken in a manner that spells out Nakaki’s name in katakana, specifically ナナ(nana) on the left hand side, and the right hand side window-frame looks like キ(ki).

i wonder why kiruko had a dream of pointing her gun at (supposedly) maru. foreshadowing? or maybe she's subconsciously fearful of maru's strength and abilities.
