Hot take: maybe it's better to let Haruki keep her fashion that way, she's comfortable, already popular and pretty enough without being stylish; boosting her girl power with girly clothes will just make it so that creeps will try to pick her up when she's outside.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the lack of external drama so far like love rivals and bullies, this is a pretty comfy read even including Haruki's lonely moments. Hayato is also not a spineless coward, that alone already puts him above many romcom protags.

On another note, I'm really liking the translation style they use here. Hayato and Himeko are certified country bumpkins while Haruki is a card-carrying tomboy, so the translation style really, really works well to bring that feeling across.

Let's GO
Glad this turned out the way it did. Definitely love the dynamic of them being 'friends' rather than 'potential lovers'. Really tired of the explicit 'boy-meets-girl' stuff these days so this is a breath of fresh air

My god, my heart sank for a moment seeing the emptiness of her house

And I really love this sibling dynamic with one look in the eyes, no question asked, they go to action. Love it!

Thank you as always for the sl!

It is about girl dignity actually, looking at your best friend so unfashionable it makes you feel sorry

But having no "presentable" clothes (by which I simply mean ones that fit her and are in good condition) can actually cause her problems. Her friends in school may pick on her, shops/restaurants may refuse her entry, she could draw attention from the cops, etc.

I'm wondering why Haruki's place is that big if she's living on her own. Generally in towns small apartments are normal, that place having two floors would not be common. Also she's been living there for years and hasn't finished unpacking?
