Why does he have the maturity and sagacity of a middle-schooler with all the sophistication of a commode? Like, I get dumbing down the protag for gags and ease of moving the story forward (because they're a yes-man that keeps stumbling into one situation or another)... BUT you'd at least expect an adult from our world to actually have and use their brains to judge situations, make the best decisions after weighing circumstances & always thinking ahead (just in case).
